Sentinelle ("we," "our," or "the app") is a personal safety application that helps
a user alert their chosen emergency contacts when they trigger an SOS. This policy
explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how you can control it.
Information we collect
From the app's user:
- Name, phone number, date of birth, and address
- Emergency contact names and phone numbers
- Optional medical information you choose to provide (conditions, medications, allergies, blood type, and any other notes for responders)
- Location data at the time an SOS is triggered, used to inform emergency contacts and, when needed, emergency responders of your whereabouts
- Records of past SOS episodes, including timestamps, which contacts were notified, and how the episode was resolved
From emergency contacts:
- Phone number, used solely to send SOS-related text messages and, if needed, place a phone call
- Consent status (whether you have agreed to receive these messages)
How we use this information
We use the information above only to operate Sentinelle's core safety function:
- Sending an automated text to your emergency contacts when you trigger an SOS, including your location and situation
- Confirming whether a contact has seen the alert
- Escalating to a phone call, and if needed a monitoring service or emergency services, if no contact confirms in time
- Sending a follow-up message once you indicate you are safe, or if the episode is automatically closed after a period of no response
- Maintaining a history of past episodes so you can review them later
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
How we share information
- Emergency contacts receive your name, location, and situation information only when you trigger an SOS, or when you add them as a contact (a one-time invitation message).
- Twilio, our SMS and voice provider, processes messages and calls on our behalf in order to deliver them. Twilio does not use this data for its own purposes.
- Emergency services or a monitoring call center may receive relevant safety information only if an alert escalates without a contact confirming.
- We do not share your information with any other third party.
Sentinelle does not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Consent and opt-out
Emergency contacts must affirmatively opt in before they are included in any SOS
alert. When added, a contact receives a one-time text explaining their role and
asking them to reply YES to consent, or STOP to decline. A contact who has not
consented, or who has opted out, will not receive SOS messages. Any contact can
reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages.
Data retention
Episode history, including location and outcome information, is stored so you can
review your own past episodes. You can clear this history at any time within the
app's settings.
Your choices
You control what medical information you provide, how many emergency contacts you
add, and your check-in and auto-close timing. You may edit or delete your profile,
contacts, and medical information at any time.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Sentinelle develops. We will update the "last updated" date above when we do.
